Within just a few seconds, Emergency Medical Communication Centre (EMCC) operators must make complex decisions where time, communication, and prioritisation can be critical to the outcome. Through an AI-based training simulator, they can now train at the same workstation used for real emergency calls, helping them build confidence and improve their ability to manage critical situations.
Prioritising research and innovation in a healthcare service under pressure can be challenging, but it is also essential for sustainable development.
The national specialist healthcare report, “Research and Innovation for the Benefit of Patients,” demonstrates how research and innovation contribute to improving services in everyday clinical practice.
RAKOS is proud that AMK Simulator is featured as one of the successful examples highlighted in the report.
AMK Simulator is a comprehensive competency-building tool for emergency medical communication services. The solution combines simulation-based training and artificial intelligence and has been developed specifically for the education and training of Emergency Medical Communication Centre (EMCC) operators. Its aim is to strengthen competence and improve quality in the management of acute incidents, thereby contributing to safer and better services for patients.
The project partners are the EMCCs in Western Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Vest), Skills, the National Centre for Emergency Primary Health Care, and SAFER.
The project illustrates how collaboration between clinical environments, centres of expertise, and technology partners can translate research and innovation into practical tools that enhance quality, learning, and patient safety.
