Before you arrive at the appointment
Useful information for you who have an appointment at the hospital.
We often experience that patients do not show up for scheduled appointments, or that they arrive without having made the necessary preparations. This leads to longer waiting times and unused resources at the hospital.

Do not cancel your appointment unless you are sick, or something unforeseen occurs that prevents you from attending.
If you arrive unprepared for an examination or surgery, you may not be able to undergo the procedure, and we will have to cancel your appointment.
Read the appointment letter carefully so that you know what is expected of you and are well prepared when you come to us. Surgeries often require preparations such as fasting and stopping medications beforehand. Read more about preparation for surgery here.
Contact us well in advance of your appointment. You can also find useful information here on the hospital's website.
Let us know if you have become sick or for other reasons cannot attend your appointment. We can then offer the appointment to another patient. You can cancel at helsenorge.no. If it's less than 48 hours until your appointment, you must call the department directly to cancel. You can find the phone number in the appointment letter or on www.sus.no. Here you can find an overview of the departments.
Let us know, as this information does not come to us automatically. This applies to treatment at all hospitals and treatment facilities that are not Stavanger University Hospital, both private and public.
Please inform us in good time if you know in advance that you no longer need the surgery.
We greatly appreciate your help by attending your appointment or canceling in time. Together, we can reduce waiting times and provide faster treatment for more patients.
