We identified six key domains—from core scope and competence requirements to ethical decision-making, interdisciplinary leadership, and the need for continuous research. CrEM is now formally defined as a physician-led, context-adapted subspecialty focused on rapid stabilization, life-saving interventions, and high-acuity care across both in-hospital and prehospital settings.

This work lays the groundwork for future curriculum development, governance, and scientific progress in CrEM across the Nordic region. A significant and long-awaited step for our specialty.
