Department of Radiology

Our facility conducts regular examinations using X-ray, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy. We also provide MRI and CT scans, nuclear medicine, and PET/CT imaging. Our department boasts cutting-edge technical equipment and offers a 24-hour emergency response. We also operate four additional smaller departments in Skeiane, Egersund, and Hillevåg. The Breast Diagnostic Center Stavanger, located in Hillevåg, conducts mammography screenings (BreastScreen Norway) at the old Stavanger hospital. The Department of Radiology provides visual guides, which are available for review further down the page. Welcome!

In our department, you will encounter a variety of professional groups.

Radiographers, who hold a bachelor's degree in radiography, are responsible for performing the X-ray examinations. Radiologists, on the other hand, are doctors with a specialization in radiology and they interpret the images.

For certain contrast examinations, radiographers and radiologists work together. Authorized health secretaries manage the scheduling of appointments and provide assistance to radiologists during ultrasound examinations.

Additionally, our department frequently hosts radiography students for practical training, where they conduct X-ray examinations under the guidance of an experienced radiographer.
