As your baby grows and develops, you will gradually take on more care tasks. These will be agreed upon with the nurse. You will always receive training for these tasks, and we are available for guidance and support. The staff is always responsible for treatment and observation.
Examples of tasks you may do:
- diaper changes
- preparing and giving tube feedings
- supporting the child during blood sampling
- daily hygiene care, also for children with CPAP and bathing
- weighing your baby and measuring temperature
- repositioning the SaO₂ monitor
If you are admitted over a long period, we recommend arranging support from family or friends so you can take breaks or leave the hospital together.
Alarm cord
Each room has a red alarm cord by the baby’s bed. Use it if you need help with the baby and cannot leave the room. If your baby’s condition suddenly gets worse: Pull the cord and call for help or come out of the room and alert us.
Hygiene and tidiness
You are responsible for keeping the room tidy and accessible for staff:
- Change bed linen once a week (staff will provide fresh linen as needed).
- Ask us if you need equipment or clothes.
Lighting in the room
Newborn and premature babies can be sensitive to light, but daylight is important for establishing a day-night rhythm. In addition, staff should be able to observe the child in good lighting. This also applies during the evening and night.
During the day: Keep curtains open and lights on, even when your baby is sleeping. The curtain between your sleeping area and the baby’s room should be open from 10:00 to 18:00 for daylight.
Milk pump equipment
You can pick up pre-packed bags with pump equipment from the milk kitchen. The UFO and pump tubing should be replaced once a week. Please let us know when you need new supplies, and we’ll be happy to help you.
After use:
- disassemble the equipment
- rinse in cold water
- return it to the milk kitchen
Access card
You will receive an access card for entry when doors are locked. The entrance door is locked at all times. If the card stops working, please exchange it for a new one.
Laundry
You are welcome to use the washing machine and dryer after 16:00 for your own laundry. Detergent and instructions are available in the laundry room. Drying racks can be used in the parentbed area of your room.
Meal times
- Breakfast: 08:00
- Lunch: 12:30–13:00
- Soup: 17:00–17:30
Bread and toppings are always available at the buffet. You are welcome to take drinks and food from the refrigerators in the dining room. Thank you for returning dishes and trays after your meal. Please use disposable tableware with evening and night meals.
Parking
Parking is available in the guest parking garage. Ask the staff for a parking permit for a discounted weekly rate.
