Stavanger University Hospital provides clinical training opportunities for approximately 80 medical students every year, in cooperation with the University of Bergen. Each student spends 15 weeks at the hospital as part of their clinical training. In addition, several hundred nurses and nursing assistants receive part of their training at SUH. Several students taking their education in areas like physiotherapy, speech therapy, social worker and psychiatry also receive training at the hospital.

In addition, SUH is involved in establishing a Masters degree in Acute Care Medicine at the University of Stavanger. The hospital is also engaged in the Acute Care Medicine Simulating- and Research Centre (SAFER). In addition, the hospital collaborates with the University of Stavanger in establishing an educational program for chiropractors in the Stavanger region.
